Term limits

The first plank of my platform is TERM LIMITS! Term Limits are two of the dirtiest words in Washington D.C. No establishment politician is allowed to talk about them; it is political death. Every real person I have talked to about Term Limits thinks they are a great idea, and then they sigh hopelessly. I PROMISE on my first day in office I will start a discharge petition on Term Limits for congress and senate. I will also support H.R. 1074, which would impose an 18 year Term Limit on Supreme Court Justices.

citizens united

In conjunction with term limits, we need to get rid of Citizens United. This is the ruling that allows corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money on our elections. We MUST NOT allow our elections to be bought and paid for by wealthy donors any more! Montana is in the unique position of leading the nation in negating the impact of Citizens United. The Transparent Election Initiative Organization has developed the Montana Plan to End Citizens United by changing the Montana state corporate code. I support this initiative and encourage ALL Montanans to sign the petition for The Transparent Election Initiative to place it on the ballot.

affordability

The next plank in my platform is Affordability. I spent most of my life living paycheck to paycheck. I know very well what it is like to have a grocery list much bigger than your budget. I would reform the SNAP program to address eligibility requirements and program fulfillment processes. I would designate it an essential service that may not be stopped during government shutdowns.

Another aspect of Affordability is healthcare. I support the Medicare for All option. I do not support mandates for everyone to buy in. I do think a majority of citizens would pursue this option. Most people do not agree with insurance companies making $70 BILLION in profits off of sick people.

Housing is another part of our Affordability Crisis. There are ways the federal government can help bring down local housing costs. Tax credits can be given for entry-level home construction and for projects to refurbish under-used office buildings and retail centers into apartments. Investing in infrastructure like roads and wastewater treatment plants cuts costs for new and existing affordable housing. We can also fund research into 3D printed housing and other new technologies.

balanced budget

My next plank is a Balanced Budget. Both establishment parties have plunged our country into 38 TRILLION dollars of debt. This is already a huge burden on our budget and is rapidly getting bigger. Balancing our bloated budget is going to be painful for everyone, but it is necessary.

Protecting Public Lands

The last plank of my platform is actually the most important to me. PROTECTING OUR PUBLIC LANDS is so important because of the finality of the policy decisions. Once public property is sold off it is gone. I spend a lot of time recreating on our public lands. One of the many wondrous things I feel out there is the pride of knowing these incredible places belong to me and every other citizen. I DO NOT SUPPORT:

  1. Selling public lands
  2. Rescinding the Roadless Rule
  3. Repealing the Wilderness Study Area designations

I do support fully funding all of our parks and public lands, even while balancing the budget. The positive economic impact of our public lands is enormous and needs to be encouraged.
